I want an engine stand for my 250

If you are going to be doing a lot of engine work in the future, you may want to have an engine stand to make the work more convenient. To no one's surprise, there isn't a stand designed specifically with the EX250 in mind. One member did find the one shown below, however, and Mike Kincaid of Rampant Racing offered him a money-back guarantee if it didn't work.

It works well, and it is very sturdy and well built. You can put a whole engine on it with no problems.

Option

The Rampart Racing stands aren't always available (although as of April 2009 they were) so you may have to make do with something else. Harbor Freight has a model available. While not a direct fit, you'll only need to build an adapter between the pivot plate and the engine, but that should be easily accomplished with a few pieces of aluminum angle and some hardware. You should be able to do the same thing with any universal-type stand.

Here is one such effort. Just keep in mind that this is fabrication, and will involve some imagination on your part, although it really isn't too complicated. Sizes and pieces needed will vary depending on your particular stand.

Parts:

• Short piece of 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" x 1/8" metal angle
• 2 ea 5-1/2" x 3/8" bolts
• 2 ea 3/8" nuts
• 4 ea 3-1/2" x 1/2" bolts
• 4 ea 1/2" nuts
• 4 ea 1/2" washers

Cut the metal into four 1-1/4" long pieces. Drill 1/2" and 3/8" holes in each piece. Trim the corners off the sides with the 3/8" holes.

Fasten the mounting tabs to the engine using the 3/8" hardware. The 1/2" bolts are there to receive the pivot plate.

Secure the pivot plate in place with the 1/2" nuts and washers.

Finally, plug the pivot plate on the stand, and your engine now has a new home.
